American tank M4 «Sherman» padded on Iwo Jima. The tank had additional wooden-planks-armor.
At this bomber B-29 bomber group of 504 (313 BW brotovoy number 10) brakes failed during a landing and it crashed into the standing fighter at the airfield, killing 4 “Mustang”. Team managed to evacuate in time, but two crew members suffered burns.
Pfc. Rez P. Hester, 7th War Dog Platoon, 25th Regt. rests in the pit of dark volcanic sand, while his dog, Butch, is a guard.
