Destroyed by American bomber B-17C (serial number 40-2074). “Flying Fortress” of the 38 th of intelligence squadron at an air base Hickam Air Feild (Honolulu area) after the Japanese raid on Pearl Harbor.Aircraft under the control of Captain Raymond Swenson was one of the men at Pearl Harbor during the Japanese attack. He took off from an airfield in California the previous evening. On approaching the Pearl Harbor pilot noticed the lights at the bottom, but the commander decided that this is the locals burn sugar cane. The plane began to decline and only the pilots saw a battle unfolded on the ground. And at a height of 600 feet (200m) the aircraft was attacked by a couple of Japanese fighters “Zero.” Aft gunner was wounded in the leg, the fire started, but the captain managed to hold on to the runway. Landing was hard and the car broke in two. This aircraft became the first American aircraft attacked by air during World War II.
